Frequently asked questions

Short answers to the things people ask most. Still stuck? The tutorial covers setup end to end.

What exactly is a billboard?

A billboard is a single bot-owned message in a channel of your choice that the bot keeps editing in place, cycling through the frames you configured — markdown, embeds and images — at your chosen interval. Think of it as a rotating notice board that never posts a new message.

Does it spam the channel with new messages?

No. The whole point is that it does not. The bot edits one existing message in place, so there are no reposts, no notification pings and no wall of old announcements. Your members always see exactly one message.

Why does my fast billboard get reposted about once an hour?

Discord enforces a limit on edits to messages older than one hour. For billboards rotating faster than every 60 seconds, the bot automatically deletes and reposts the message roughly every 50 minutes (re-pinning it if needed), so the message it edits is always young enough. This is expected behavior, not a bug — slower billboards are edited in place indefinitely.

What permissions does the bot need?

View Channel, Send Messages, Embed Links, Attach Files, Read Message History, Manage Messages and Pin Messages — only in the channels where billboards live. It requests no administrator permission and needs no privileged intents for normal operation.

Why can't I snapshot another user's message into a frame?

Discord only returns the content of other users' messages to bots that have the Message Content toggle enabled in the Discord Developer Portal. The bot's own messages always work. If your snapshots come back empty, that toggle is the cause — or just recreate the content in the dashboard editor instead.

How fast can a billboard rotate?

Free servers can rotate every 60 seconds. Pro lowers the floor to 10 seconds per frame. Each frame can also override the interval with its own duration, up to 24 hours.

What happens when Pro expires?

Nothing is ever deleted. Billboards and frames over the free limits simply pause and your fastest interval is raised back to 60 seconds. Re-subscribe (or redeem vote rewards) and everything resumes exactly where it left off.

How do vote rewards work?

Vote for the bot on top.gg and you get 12 hours of Pro for a server of your choice — 24 hours for weekend votes, which count double. Rewards stack up to 72 hours, so voting regularly can keep a server on Pro continuously, for free.

Can I move a billboard to another channel?

Yes. Change the channel with /billboard edit or in the dashboard. The bot removes the old message and posts the billboard fresh in the new channel, keeping all frames, the interval and the pin setting.

Is my data deleted when the bot leaves the server?

No — your billboards and frames are kept, so everything is restored if the bot is re-invited. If you want your data gone for good, request deletion as described in the Privacy Policy and we will erase it.

How do I cancel my Pro subscription?

Open the billing customer portal from your server's settings in the dashboard and cancel there — it takes two clicks. You keep Pro until the end of the period you already paid for, and your billboards then fall back to the free plan without losing any data.
